Adjectives: Describing People and Things
Adjectives describe nouns. They come **before** the noun or **after** "be".
**Before a noun:** a **tall** man, a **red** dress, **hot** coffee
**After "be":** The movie is **boring**. The food was **delicious**.
**Adjective order** (when using multiple):
Opinion → Size → Age → Shape → Colour → Origin → Material → Purpose
- A **beautiful large old round brown antique wooden dining** table
- Simplified: "a beautiful big old brown table" — opinion first, then physical.
**Common pairs:**
- -ed = how YOU feel: I am bor**ed**. I am excit**ed**.
- -ing = what CAUSES the feeling: The movie is bor**ing**. The news is excit**ing**.
Examples
She wore a beautiful red silk dress.
The lecture was boring but the teacher was interested in the topic.
💡 Don't confuse -ed and -ing: "I am boring" means YOU bore other people! "I am bored" means you feel boredom.
