Present Simple and Present Continuous
**Present Simple** → habits, facts, routines
- I **work** in Toronto.
- She **drinks** coffee every morning.
- Water **boils** at 100°C.
- Add -s/-es for he/she/it: He work**s**, She go**es**
**Present Continuous** → happening RIGHT NOW or temporary
- I **am working** from home today.
- She **is cooking** dinner right now.
- They **are watching** the football match.
- Structure: am/is/are + verb + **-ing**
**Key difference:**
- "I **cook** dinner every day." (habit — always)
- "I **am cooking** dinner now." (right now — this moment)
**Signal words:**
- Simple: always, usually, often, sometimes, every day/week
- Continuous: now, right now, at the moment, currently, today
Examples
He takes the metro to work every day.
Shh! The baby is sleeping right now.
💡 Common mistake in many countries: "I am living in Sydney" when you mean permanently. If it's your home, say "I live in Sydney." Use "am living" only for temporary stays.
